Bergeson, LLP Affiliated Counsel Steven L. Walker Appointed Chair Of The Taxation Section Of The California State Bar

Steven L. Walker has been appointed Chair of the Taxation Section of the California State Bar.  The Taxation Section is California’s only statewide tax bar association, and current membership is approximately 3,000.The Taxation Section has ten Standing Committees in a variety of practice areas and is responsible for numerous continuing legal education events throughout the year. Notably, the Taxation Section activities include: (1) a Sacramento Delegation in February, where members present paper topics to the California Franchise Tax Board and other state taxing agencies; (2) an annual Washington D.C. trip in May, where members present paper topics to, among others, the Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Department of Justice, and U.S. Treasury Department; (3) the California Tax Lawyer (a quarterly journal); and (4) the Tax Annual Meeting in November, where members can attend important tax programs with speakers from the federal and state taxing agencies.
