Caroline McIntyre Leads Inns of Court Service and Outreach Group

Caroline McIntyre and Hon. Vanessa A. Zecher (Ret.) co-led the Service and Outreach group for the William A. Ingram Inn of Court’s 2023-24 Inn year.  The group organized several service projects and outreach events including:

  • Suncrest Hospice:  Inn members made 34 fleece blankets to provide to Suncrest Hospice, which in turn presented the blankets to Suncrest patients as holiday presents.
  • Second Harvest:  Inn members helped sort and box produce for Second Harvest at events in October and April.  Second Harvest provides nutritious food to over 450,000 people in Silicon Valley each month.
  • Bill Wilson Adopt-A-Family:  Inn members sponsored an Afghan refugee family consisting of two parents and ten children and provided them with warm clothing and shoes, as well as other essentials and toys for the children.
  • Family Supportive Housing:  Inn members participated in a blanket, sheet, and pillow drive for Family Supportive Housing.  The organization helps homeless single and two parent families with children remain intact while addressing their needs for food, shelter, employment, and education.
  • Essay Contest:  The Inn sponsored its Fourth Annual Student Essay Contest which was open to all law students in the Inn as well as law students at Stanford Law School, Santa Clara University School of Law, and Lincoln Law School of San Jose.  The essay topic was “How and when do legal mentors and mentees find one another?  What makes a successful mentoring relationship?”
  • Mock Trial:  The Inn helped recruit judges for the Santa Clara County High School Mock Trial Competition.
  • Events:  The Inn promoted outreach events including events hosted by The La Raza Lawyers Scholarship Foundation and Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY).
