Court Of Appeal Affirms $38 Million Judgment In Internet Defamation Case

The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit affirmed a $38 million judgment of a Nevada federal district court following a jury verdict.  The jury had unanimously found in favor of plaintiffs Bradley Stephen Cohen and Cohen Asset Management, Inc. on their claims of internet defamation and false light invasion of privacy against defendants.  Anthony M. Glassman and Rebecca Kaufman, now partners with Bergeson, LLP’s new southern California office, with co-counsel Robert Mitchell of Tiffany & Bosco, had represented the prevailing plaintiffs in securing the award, which is one of the largest for a United States internet defamation case.
