The Northern District Court Historical Society Board of Directors was formed in 1997. It has been protecting and enlivening the rich judicial history of the court. The Historical Society has written, published, and collaborated on several excellent books covering topics in the history of Northern California and its Federal District Court. It regularly hosts presentations on fascinating events and challenging problems in California’s history, including diversity within the San Francisco Fire Department, voting rights then and now, and war crimes. The Historical Society also honors icons within the legal field, such as Judge Samuel Conti, Judge Charles Renfrew, and William I. Edlund.
